More Blue and Black and a Star Headwrap

I redid yesterday's posts and still can't find out why the photos are getting sized wrong.

Here is Friday;s Outfit. Black pants, blue top, star headscarf.
I've been experimenting with this retro head wrap which my boyfriend made no bones about disliking. So I did it when  he wasn't home. It's my head after all.

Getting Discouraged: Tuesday and Thursday

Here are some great examples of pattern mixing.

The last two days have been discouraging. I have to admit that the most comfortable outfits look pretty horrendous on me. I think I need to hide my waist and backside better. I almost quit the whole fashion challenge after seeing these  photos of myself on Tuesday and Thursday. I haven't put together an outfit for today yet. I don't know what I want to do but I definitely know what I don't want to do. I don't want to do any more outfits like this.

I'm also having computer issues. So on my monitor the photos are showing up even wider, like I've been stretched sideways. I sure hope this distortion isn't showing up on everyone else's computer. Because egads!

Fashion Challenge Day 9: Gray Dress

I have a love hate relationship with this dress. I like the color. I like the beaded dragonflies on it. But I feel like an elephant when I wear it.

Black ballet flats: Payless Shoe Source
Baseball jersey style top: unknown

Outfit Challenge Day Five: Blue and Black w/ Scarf

I think this blue top looks so much better than the other one I wore. Once again, I think I should have tucked the blouse in, but I didn't get to look at the photos until I got home.

Blue top: Walmart
Black pants: Walmart
Scarf: Thrifted
Running shoes; Not shown
Sunglasses: Inherited

I think it is important to show the back view as well.
Another windy day so I pulled my hair back.

Soon it will be too cool for short sleeves.

Outfit 3: The Blue and the Black

So often I feel like I'm only photogenic from the shoulders up.

Long version of the skirt.

The best photo I could get of the front view & I took over 100.

My favorite silver heels

I love the Torrid leggings.
I tried so many ways to get this outfit to work. Skirt long, skirt short, skirt medium. Shirt tucked, shirt untucked. This shirt has been hanging in my closet ever since a friend gave it to me over a year ago. One of the points of this challenge is to step out of my comfort zone and try new things.

I love this shade of blue, but I've never done well with polyester/rayon type fabrics or blousons. This hit me wrong and accentuated all my worst features.

What I did love was the black leggings I bought from Torrid just before I started the challenge. They fit perfectly and at my size that is a miracle.

Wizard Necklace

I could alter the blouse, but I think I'll just wash it and donate it to Goodwill. It reminded me of a top I loved in high school, back in the days when I actually had a waist.

Black skirt and blue blouse: gifted
Wizard necklace: Something I picked up at a craft fair
Silver heels: Payless Shoesource
Leggings: Torrid

A New 90 Day Fashion Challenge

Yesterday I started a huge new fashion project based on the book I was telling you about. For three months I will come up with a different outfit each day, and here is the kicker. It has to be from clothes I already own, or I can buy thrifted or vintage items, but no new purchases. It doesn't say whether or not I can sew new things out of supplies I already have but I figure if I'm that motivated and it gets me sewing again, then sure, why not? I'm just glad I already bought 2 pairs of black leggings at Torrid a few days ago, because that will give me a lot more winter looks. If you want to do this along with me, drop me a comment so I can highlight your blog posts too.  And you don't have to look like a model. I sure don't.

1. Put together an outfit you haven't done before for this challenge.
2. Take at least one full length  photo and a close-up.
3. Post it to your blog.
4. List the items in the outfit and where you got them if you have time.

Deep Red
So here is the outfit I wore yesterday: Red striped t-shirt from Walmart, Red skirt from Holy Clothing, Little red purse: Thrifted Flip-flops because it's the desert. Red print scarf also thrifted.
Now if I'd wanted the cat in the photo he never would have done it. He likes playing with the dags on my skirt.

I love wearing wine or burgundy red.

Here you can see the scarf and the shirt better.

If an outfit is comfortable I will wear it a lot.

For day two I wanted to go with a fun cowgirl theme. I've been fighting with the country girl image ever since I moved here from the city 2 years ago. But the longer I am here, the more country I feel. Then when my neighbor gave me her favorite and expensive cowgirl hat, how could I resist? She was moving out of state and she's almost 80, so she wasn't planning on needing this hat anymore. I was happy to have it.

Red shirt: thrifted
Black pants: Walmart
Boots: Walmart
Hat: Gift
The whole outfit was under $40 and half of that was the boots.

Four of our six chickens.

When I got this shirt at the thrift store I assumed it was too small. I was going to cut it up. But I was happy to find it fit!

The shirt says cowgirls don't cry.

Loving the hat Dixie gave me. Now she was the real cowgirl.

I'll wear this hat again if I can find my turquoise jewelry.
